Maintenance
To ensure smooth and fast descents on the mountain, it is crucial that your skis or snowboard are well maintained. That's why Skizaak Utrecht offers the possibility to have your skis or snowboard sharpened, waxed and polished. Additionally, small repairs are possible, such as filling the base.
The importance of maintenance
Waxing your skis or board is crucial for a pleasant skiing experience. Without wax, you'll go relatively slowly down the mountain. When skiing, a thin layer of water forms between the ski and the snow. This allows you to glide smoothly. Wax is needed to facilitate this process properly. During waxing, hot wax is pushed into the pores of the ski's base. This makes the ski nice and smooth.
Besides waxing, sharpening is very important. Sharpening gives you grip in the snow. The metal edges of your skis are sharp so they can cut well into the snow. Especially on hard slopes, a well-sharpened edge is crucial. You reduce the chance of slipping and increase the possibility of carving.
